Consumer Travel Insights 2018 by STR

Now in its second year, STR‘s Consumer Travel Insights (CTI) report series was launched to provide in-depth research into the complete traveller journey, from planning a holiday start to finish, to how the traveller’s money was spent in a destination. This year we have expanded the series to five reports so that we can provide greater insights on each stage of the traveller journey.

Our findings have been gathered from a survey of our panel of approximately 28,000 engaged global travellers. These insights provide actionable intelligence to inform and drive tourism planning and decision making.

What you will find inside the reports:

The FREE Overview of the Traveller Journey report provides an overview of the complete travel experience. This overview is a great introduction to our report series and will start to inform your understanding of the modern traveller as well as their holiday motivations and behaviour.

The Travel Planning and Motivations report focuses on the start of the traveller’s holiday planning process. This report highlights the key tasks and timings involved in the holiday planning process as well as identifying the most common information sources involved and the factors that are important in the choice of destination. The report also looks at the influence of social media and how social media influencers affect travellers’ planning.

The Travel Booking and Convenience report offers a deep dive into the booking habits of global travellers as they plan aspects of their trips. The report offers insight into how people book their flights and accommodation, what particular factors they researched when finding accommodation, why OTAs are continuing to rise in the booking space, and what other factors are influencing booking habits.

The Travel Spend and Budgeting report gives an in depth look at travellers’ spending habits on their leisure trips. This report covers budgeting, the use of contactless payment, and travellers’ perceptions of cryptocurrency.

The Technology & Travel Brands report takes a look at how technology and new travel brands continue to disrupt the traditional holiday space. Insights include an in-depth look at OTAs and the competition between them, the ever-growing world of home-sharing accommodation (with insights on opinions of Airbnb), and a review of the technology that travellers want included with their accommodation.

The Traveller Journey: Planning, Booking, Activities, Technology & Travel Brands offers all four of the above paid reports in a single package for half of the price. This fantastic deal will help any business understand the global traveller and how they are interacting with the travel industry along the way.
