Positive Eid al-Fitr weekend in the Middle East

During the weekend of Eid al-Fitr (23-24 May), key markets in the Middle East posted 85% occupancy levels, and some of the beach areas reached 70% occupancy.

Africa: difficult April

Hotel performance in all countries has been affected by COVID-19. At the market-level In April, Marrakech and Sharm el-Sheikh posted just a 1% occupancy level for open hotels. Showing how low performance had fallen across the markets, Lagos posted the highest occupancy level for the month at 40%.

South Africa RevPAR growth streak stalled

Occupancy declines in Cape Town

After a fairly consistent run of occupancy growth since the beginning of the year, Cape Town began reporting dramatic declines in the metric starting 28 February.
